Applicants must include both chapter and national dues with their application. You must join your local chapter (based on where you practice law). You may join additional chapters by remitting appropriate dues.
Non-U.S.-based lawyers must include a current Certificate of Good Standing issued by a bar, court or like body, in the country where the attorney practices law. Dues are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes, although a portion of dues payments may be deducted as a business expense. Please consult a tax advisor for information on your specific situation.
Persons who are already Members of the Association and who are retiring from the practice of law may apply for Retired Membership by contacting the Membership Dept. by email at email@example.com or by phone at 202-507-7635. Retired Members pay reduced national dues and retain full membership benefits, excluding (1) the right to vote in any AILA election and (2) the right to retain membership in any AILA chapter.
For renewing members ONLY, a payment plan has been created to help you spread your AILA membership expenses throughout the year with four installments. To take advantage of the installment plan, you must download the payment plan agreement, include a current renewal invoice and send to the AILA national office. The AILA annual payment plan is available to credit card users only. You must provide a credit card number to participate in the plan.
