Make a Promise to Yourself and to Your Community. Pledge to do Your Part Today!

We are pleased to invite AILA membership to take the 2014 AILA Member Pro Bono Pledge to the membership! The Pro Bono Pledge is an association-wide effort to inspire and support each other to publicly commit (or recommit) ourselves to pro bono service. We are asking all members to take the Pro Bono Pledge, and in return receive support, inspiration, and recognition from your colleagues. The Pro Bono Pledge distinguishes 4 levels of achievement. Although the pledge asks you to commit to a minimum goal, we encourage you to reach even higher! Make a Promise to your community today and Pledge to do your part.

AILA members have a long and respected history of being extremely generous with their time by providing pro bono services to their communities. Even with the valiant efforts of so many, the need for pro bono continues to grow. The increasing fall-out from a broken immigration system has brought about a need for immigration legal assistance that is greater than ever before. Whether it is developing a means to address the victimization of immigrants by notario fraud and the unauthorized practice of immigration law or organizing efforts to assist individuals who may be eligible for prosecutorial discretion but are proceeding pro se, AILA members have the expertise and the motivation to help!

As attorneys, we have a professional responsibility to help meet this need. And as attorneys specializing in immigration practice as well as being members of AILA, we are in a unique position to act. The time to act is now!

AILA applauds your enthusiasm and resolve in providing a voice for immigrants. To that end, AILA's Practice & Professionalism Center (PPC) Pro Bono Program has developed myriad resources, and will provide ongoing support and opportunities for members to meet their pro bono goals. Keep striving for change…and change will come!

Making the time for pro bono work is not always easy, but it is always rewarding. Individually, we make a difference, but together, we can begin to transform the world.
