  1. Don't Miss AILA's Live Updates From the Senate Hearing on Immigration Reform

    AILA is providing live updates on today's Senate hearing, "Comprehensive Immigration Reform," featuring DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. AILA also submitted testimony for the Senate hearing.


  2. USCIS Publishes Revised Form N-470

    USCIS published a revised Form N-470, Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes, with an edition date of 1/3/2013. USCIS will accept older editions for 60 days. Beginning 4/12/13, USCIS will only accept the 1/3/2013 edition. Also, customers must now mail Form N-470 to the Dallas Lockbox facility.

  4. New Information for Attorney Users of USCIS ELIS

    At the 2/11/13 AILA meeting with the USCIS Office of Transformation, USCIS released instructions for attorneys and accredited representatives who wish to appear on behalf of an applicant who has already filed through USCIS ELIS, along with a fact sheet on e-Filing steps for representatives, and statistics on ELIS usage through 2/7/13. Please also note that ELIS will not be available on 2/17/13 from 4:00 am (ET) to 2:00 pm (ET) due to routine maintenance.


  5. Do You Have Questions for CBP?

    AILA's Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Liaison Committee requests agenda items for an upcoming meeting with CBP. Please submit agenda item suggestions to Anita Sorensen at asorensen@foley.com by COB Friday, 2/22/13.


  6. DOL Issues 8th Round of FAQs on H-2A Final Rule

    DOL released Round 8 of its FAQs on the 2010 H-2A final rule which address new topics including custom combine activities, housing inspections, filing an application, rates of pay, reimbursable costs, surety bonds, and recruitment.

    According to The New York Times, the Bipartisan Policy Center assembled a team of two Democrats, Henry Cisneros and Edward G. Rendell, and two Republicans, Haley Barbour and Condoleezza Rice, to lead a new commission to push Congress to act on immigration.
