On February 11, 2016, Senator Reid introduced the "Fair Day in Court for Kids Act," to provide access to counsel to children, families, and other vulnerable populations. AILA hosted a telebriefing for press for a discussion of the legislation and next steps with Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), one of the seven co-sponsors of the bill, Wendy Kind, President, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), Wendy Cervantes, Vice President of Immigration and Child Rights for First Focus Campaign for Children, and Karla, a woman currently detained in Dilley, Texas, who is being represented by the CARA Pro Bono Project. p>
