WASHINGTON, DC - Central to the mission of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is the promotion of justice and advocacy for fair and reasonable immigration laws. AILA condemns any proposal that would treat someone differently based upon nationality or religion. Bigotry and discrimination are anathema to the principles upon which our nation was founded, are contrary to the principles of the Constitution, and have no place in a just and free society.
"If such morally reprehensible and discriminatory policies were ever to be put into practice, it would be a sad day in our country's proud history. The only silver lining is that you need look no further for an immediate and vociferous rebuttal than our own Constitution. America's founding fathers were better than this, and thankfully our own laws would save us from destroying our country's integrity. These attacks on the Muslim and Mexican communities only serve to divide our nation in a time when unity is more important than ever," said AILA President Victor Nieblas Pradis.
