AILA's Law Journal Welcomes New Editor-In-Chief Cyrus Mehta
Inaugural Editor-in-Chief Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia Passes the Torch
WASHINGTON, DC – The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) announced the new Editor-in-Chief for the AILA Law Journal will be renowned expert Cyrus D. Mehta of New York, NY. Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia ends her tremendously successful service in the role for the first three years of the law journal’s existence and is passing the torch on to Cyrus Mehta this month.
Mr. Mehta is the Managing Partner of Cyrus D. Mehta & Partners PLLC in New York City and a graduate of Cambridge University and Columbia Law School. He has served in varied national roles with AILA, currently continuing his long-time service with AILA’s Ethics Committee as Vice Chair. Moreover, Mr. Mehta is a board member of The New York Immigration Coalition and a board member of Volunteers of Legal Services. He is also special counsel on immigration matters to the Departmental Disciplinary Committee, Appellate Division, First Department, New York.
As an acknowledged expert on ethics, among a variety of immigration law issues, Mr. Mehta will bring a depth and breadth of experience that will help the AILA Law Journal continue its trajectory of growth and influence, as a forum for immigration law thought leaders to share insights with the AILA membership and the broader public. Mr. Mehta also brings an incredibly important set of skills from his work as an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School.
The AILA community is deeply grateful to Ms. Wadhia for her time and effort over the past several years, to bring the AILA Law Journal from a glimmer of an idea to a full-fledged and deeply impactful resource. Ms. Wadhia brought tremendous expertise as an author, professor, and leader in the field of immigration law to the inaugural years of the law journal and she continues to serve as an inspiration for authors and prospective authors alike.
