AILA Presents David Wilks with the 2019 Joseph Minsky Young Lawyer Award

WASHINGTON, DC - The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) will recognize David J. Wilks, of Miller Mayer LLP, Ithaca, NY, with the 2019 Joseph Minsky Young Lawyer Award for his outstanding contributions made as a young lawyer in the field of immigration and nationality law. He will receive the award this week during AILA's Annual Conference in Orlando, FL.
David J. Wilks is Senior Counsel with Miller Mayer LLP in Ithaca, New York. Mr. Wilks represents a wide variety of business immigration clients, from hospital chains to entrepreneurs. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of AILA's Vermont Service Center Liaison Committee as well as a member of the 2019 Annual Conference Committee. Mr. Wilks has previously served on the New Member Division (NMD) Steering Committee and the AILA Fundamentals of Immigration Law Conference Committee.
Mr. Wilks has also been an active member of AILA's Upstate New York Chapter, having previously served as its Awards Committee Chair, Law School Liaison, and NMD Liaison. Mr. Wilks has contributed to a number of AILA Practice Pointers, including: "Responding to H-1B RFEs Raising Level 1 or Level 2 Wage Issues," "H-4 EADs," and "Entrepreneur Parole Program." His articles have appeared in Bender's Immigration Bulletin, ILW.com, Deseret News, and National Law Review. Mr. Wilks has presented at multiple AILA Conferences and appeared on podcasts and radio shows. He is also launching his own podcast, Everyday Immigration, with Frosted Lens Productions.
After graduating from Cornell Law School in 2010, Mr. Wilks joined Harter Secrest & Emery LLP in Rochester, New York, eventually joining its immigration practice group. In 2016, Mr. Wilks joined the distinguished immigration practice group at Miller Mayer LLP.
