DHS Announces Family Reunifications to Begin First Week of May

DHS Secretary Mayorkas and the Family Reunification Task announced that family reunifications will begin first week of May. Per the announcement, the task force has been working to establish a database of separated families, correct inaccuracies in files, and build the process to find every family. The task force’s initial report is due June 2, 2021.

DHS Secretary Announces Family Reunification Task Force Principles and Executive Director
DHS Secretary Mayorkas announced the principles of the Family Reunification Task Force and the appointment of Michelle Brané as the task force’s executive director. Per the principles, the task force “will be defined by the relentless pursuit of bringing families back together.”
