Emergency Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions for FY2021
President Biden issued a determination revising the allocations for refugee admissions for FY2021 and maintaining the refugee admissions ceiling at 15,000. The memo notes that a subsequent determination may be issued to increase admissions if the ceiling is reached before the end of the fiscal year. This determination supersedes the determination issued by President Trump on October 27, 2020.
Note: White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement that President Biden is expected to “set a final, increased refugee cap for the remainder of this fiscal year by May 15.”
