Executive Order on Women and Gender

1/30/25 AILA Doc. No. 25021305. Admissions & Border

On 1/20/25, President Trump issued Executive Order (EO) 14168, “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” stating that it is U.S. policy to recognize two sexes, male and female, and directing the Secretaries of DOS and DHS and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management to implement changes to require that government-issued IDs, including passports, visas, and Global Entry cards, accurately reflect the holder’s sex. The order defines sex as “an individual’s immutable biological classification as either male or female,” and does not include the concept of “gender identity.” (90 FR 8615, 1/30/25)
