Executive Order on Integrity of U.S. Elections

3/28/25 AILA Doc. No. 25032506.

On 3/25/25, President Trump issued Executive Order (EO) 14248, “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” which, among other things, orders the Election Assistance Commission to take appropriate action to require in its national mail voter registration form documentary proof of U.S. citizenship. The EO also directs the DHS Secretary to provide to the Attorney General complete information on all foreign nationals who have indicated on any immigration form that they have registered or voted in a federal, state, or local election. It further orders the Attorney General to prioritize enforcement of laws that restrict noncitizens from registering to vote or voting, and to coordinate with state attorneys general to assist with state-level review and prosecution of noncitizens unlawfully registered to vote or casting votes. (90 FR 14005, 3/28/25) The White House released a fact sheet on this EO.
