HHS Interim Final Rule Updating Unaccompanied Children Program Foundational Rule
The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published an interim final rule (IFR) amending a regulation relating to key aspects of the placement, care, and services provided to unaccompanied children (UACs) referred to ORR. The IFR removes the prohibition on sharing immigration status information relating to potential sponsors with law enforcement and immigration enforcement entities of the 4/30/24 “Unaccompanied Children Program Foundational Rule” at 45 CFR 410.1201(b). The IFR is effective 3/25/25, and comments are due by 5/27/25. (90 FR 13554, 3/25/25)
