ICE to Close Two Detention Centers in Massachusetts and Georgia
DHS Secretary Mayorkas directed ICE to discontinue use of the C. Carlos Carreiro Immigration Detention Center in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Secretary Mayorkas also instructed ICE Acting Director Johnson to prepare to discontinue use of the Irwin County Detention Center in Ocilla, Georgia. Per DHS, the secretary “will continue to review concerns with other federal immigration detention center.”
