Presidential Proclamation Terminating Emergency with Respect to the U.S. Southern Border and Redirecting Funds Diverted to Border Wall Construction
On 1/20/21, President Biden issued a proclamation declaring that the national emergency declared by Proclamation 9844, and continued on 2/13/20 and 1/15/21, is terminated and that the authorities invoked in that proclamation will no longer be used to construct a wall at the southern border. The proclamation further directs appropriate government officials to pause work on construction on the southern border wall and to develop a plan to redirect funds and repurpose contracts.
