Attorneys often find themselves the sole advocate and primary contact for their asylum-seeking clients. Resources are desperately needed to help navigate the benefits available post-grant. The changing resettlement landscape provides an opportunity to bridge the gap between immigration attorneys and local resettlement agencies to serve newly eligible asylee clients.
Panelists from Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project join Lindsay Harris, Vice Chair of AILA’s Asylum and Refugee Committee, to discuss how immediate post-grant referrals to resettlement agencies can provide direct access to asylee benefits, including comprehensive case management support. Panelists will review the benefits for which post-grant asylee clients are eligible, highlight a successful referral process, and share resources.
