The second half of 2021 saw the fall of the coalition government in Afghanistan, allowing the Taliban to reclaim the country. Then, the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, led to the migration of large numbers of refugees to the United States. Now that your Afghan and Ukrainian clients are in the United States, what are their options? You will learn about TPS- and asylum-related options, and specific grounds of inadmissibility that could impact asylum seekers.
- Your client was paroled into the United States for two years — what are their options now?
- If they obtain TPS, can they or should they pursue asylum?
- What are the legal obstacles mostly like to impact asylum seekers from Afghanistan and Ukraine (i.e., terrorism-related bars [new regs for Taliban-related terrorism bars] and/or government inability to protect issues?)
- What public benefits are available to parolees, TPS holders, asylum seekers and asylees in California?

Therefore, persons who log in or listen in on the web seminar as part of a group will not be able to obtain CLE credit.
