Expert panelists will provide an overview of USCIS’s interpretation of the physical presence criteria. They also will equip attendees with strategies for effectively meeting the requirement, especially for older cases, and they will review regulatory and policy updates. Specifically, they will share insights and practical tips for preparing effective initial T visa filings, and discuss best practices for responding to RFEs and denials.

AILA Membership Benefit – Access to Free Seminar Recordings (CLE Credit Available for $35)
Enjoy access to free seminar recordings (from October 2020–present) as an AILA Member. AILA encourages live attendance for those wishing to ask the speaker questions. CLE credit is included with purchase for live participants.
Recordings will be available approximately two weeks after the live event date. AILA members can access these seminars, with no CLE credit, for free. Recordings are CLE eligible in most jurisdictions and an administration fee is required to obtain CLE credit.

Eligible participants can receive up to 1.8 CLE credit hours. AILA will administer CLE credit only to individuals who register and log into the web seminar. AILA cannot verify your attendance and participation in this program unless you register directly for the web seminar and use your name to log in to participate in the program. Therefore, persons who log in or listen in on the web seminar as part of a group will not be able to obtain CLE credit.

AILA has filed for CLE and specialized credit in all jurisdictions with mandatory CLE requirements. For details about specific approvals, contact us at cle@aila.org.
- AILA applies for accreditation upon attorneys’ request after participation for the following states: AR, DE, IA, ID, KS, KY, LA, ME, MN, MS, OR, TN and WY. Programs are typically approved.
- Florida and Rhode Island - Attorneys must apply on their own for approval of seminars in FL and RI. Programs are typically approved.

To receive CLE credit for the live event, attorneys must record web seminar attendance and the CLE code provided within one week of the web seminar date via webCLE.

Carson M. Osberg (DL), AILA VAWA, Us, and Ts Committee Chair, Chapel Hill, NC
Carson M. Osberg provides technical assistance on T visas to attorneys nationwide and currently serves as Chair of AILA’s VAWA/U/T Committee. Prior to her technical assistance role at CAST, she represented survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in their immigration matters before USCIS, ICE, and EOIR. Carson obtained a JD from American University Washington College of Law and a BA from Tufts University. She speaks Spanish and is a member of the Maryland bar.
Stephanie Morales, AILA VAWA, Us, and Ts Committee, Minneapolis, MN
Stephanie Morales is the owner and managing attorney of Morales Law PLLC, a small immigration law firm in Minneapolis, MN. She received her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and is licensed in Minnesota and California. She has been practicing immigration law for over twelve years, with particular expertise in T visas. She is currently a member of AILA’s VAWA, Us, and Ts Committee.
Stacie Jonas, Austin, TX
Stacie Jonas is the Immigration Group Coordinator at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. She previously managed TRLA’s anti-human trafficking team, which provides comprehensive legal services to survivors of labor and sex trafficking in over 60 counties in Texas and to migrant farmworker survivors in six southern states. Ms. Jonas is a graduate of the Yale Law School and holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
Caleb Stewart, Westminster, CO
Caleb Stewart (he/him/his) leads the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network's anti-human trafficking work, fulfills the governor-appointed role of a labor trafficking expert on the Colorado Human Trafficking Council, and serves on the Freedom Network steering committee. Prior to earning JD/MPA degrees from the University of Washington in 2012, he lived in Thailand for five years as a Peace Corps Volunteer and the Managing Director of the Khom Loy Development Foundation.
